Emporion Greek colony (Empúries, Girona)

Vitrina 67
Empúries was founded around the year 575 B.C. at the southern end of the Gulf of Roses by the Phocaea people. It is the best-documented Greek colony in the Iberian Peninsula. The Cazurro collection shows objects from the necropolis of a city, which continued uninterruptedly occupied until Roman times. Some of these objects are: ointment glasses, cups and other vessels with red and black figures and terracotta, some representing animals.
